A community-led initiative to protect the former Sky Haven Elementary School property.

Decades of disinvestment and minimal maintenance resulted in the closing of Sky Haven Elementary School in 2011 and forced displacement of many in the community. Subsequent illegal dumping and general neglect by DeKalb County Schools have resulted in environmental degradation and other issues. Hundreds of neighbors in the vicinity of Sky Haven are in nearly unanimous agreement that the property must be protected from development and properly maintained for environmental and public health.
The community respectfully requests that the Dekalb County School District deed the Sky Haven property to Dekalb County so that it may be protected and properly maintained by Parks and Recreation for the benefit of surrounding communities.
